Hullo! So I got invited to a writing group on Facebook with a challenge to write 1 poem a day from 1st April 2014 to 30th April 2014, so I decided to update accordingly here because I'm a neat freak with organisational tendencies I need to meet to be at ease hahA
Day 1: Flood
I don't know why I ran from the water -
flowing slowly, gently, calling out to me -
but I ran. (I don't know how to swim.)
I slam a door shut, the exit sign
flickering in pain as water slowly licked
at its wound (I winced in its place.)
One of the hands on the face with no body
on the wall spasmed (as did mine;)
and I waited for the water to fill the silence.
I waited for the water to pour in
through every orifice on the surface of
my empty husk, then I waited for darkness;
but all I saw was light - I was swimming,
swimming in a sea of light that poured out in waves
after eons of being trapped in a cage
that kept my heart. (It never got the chance
to learn how to swim.)
