i had 40+ hours of paid time off i needed to use before i lost them on my 6 year work anniversary, and it just happened to fall on spring break.
everything i did, i did by myself. i saw no other solo vacationers my entire trip (that i am aware of). just lots of families.
the weather was gorgeous every day of the trip. it was supposed to storm really bad the second day (zipline/horses) but it held off until i walked into my hotel for the night, and then it started hailing.
the star party was clear skies except for a bunch of dust that blew up from the very very very windy wind. it was pretty cold with the wind gusts and everyone was walking around wearing blankets. but yeah, the sky was perfect.
Day 1: On my way to my hotel in Alpine, TX, I stopped to see the Caverns of Sonora.
Day 2: Activity 1 - Zipline in Lajitas. (yes, he was hot.)
(this isn't me)
Day 2: Activity 2 - Sunset Horseback Ride
My camera died shortly after this so I missed getting a picture of the sunset. It looked like a sunset.
I was the only solo rider, so a nice lady took a picture for me and sent it to the stables (since my phone died).
Day 3: Activity 1-4 - McDonald Observatory in Ft. Davis, TX
Day 3: Activity 1 - Telescope Tour
Day 3: Activity 4 - Star Party. There were about 500 people and we got to look through big telescopes and also "small" "amateur" telescopes.
Day 4: Activity 1 - Scenic Drive through Alpine, Ft Davis, and Marfa. I stopped here to get a bottle of Crown because I forgot mine at the hotel.
My blinker wouldn't stay put, thankfully I packed a first aid kit for this exact reason.
Mile Marker 182.
Day 4: Activity 3 - The Marfa Lights (activity 2 was walking around Marfa looking for souvenirs).
I didn't see any Marfa Lights, but the sky was amazing.
Day 5: Activity 1 - stopping to use the restroom halfway back to Austin.
(I made this for my mom since she likes horses and me.)
