Judging

I've always sought to bring an open mind into every situation I find myself in.  Part of that means that I'm often slow to judge people until I actually get to know them, not just a trait or two about them ( Read more... )

Well.....I don't like tall people (just kidding).

I feel your pain. I recently began living my life a bit differently when it comes to something many people find controversial (to say the least).

I don't go around introducing myself as "Atheist" but if the subject comes up, I don't hide it either. If anything, I've found it can be a conversation killer (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

I don't want to have to defend myself to believers but often find myself in positions where THEY want me to. Personally, I don't feel the need to justify it or defend it any way. I know that's who I am - I've always felt this way - and one more Occam's razor argument isn't going to change my mind. Nor do I feel the need to justify my argument that a human being doesn't need God to be good.

I digress. Every person is worth having two conversations with. After that, you've pretty much figured out whether or not there can be a connection. If they judge you after that point - it's for you to decide whether it's worth the hassle to continue. I happen to believe life is too short, and the world is too full of cool people to waste my time around ones like that. ;)
