Tender To The Blues: A Gregory House Mix

Only the full .zip is currently available.
If you want/need individual songs, let me know.
The original idea: A mix of current songs that wouldn't seem out of place on House's iPod. You know, songs with a jazz-, blues-, classic rock-, or alt country-feel. A lot of piano, guitar, and even some banjo (he does have one next to his bed, after all).

The revised idea: Stylistically, the same general idea as mentioned above, but with a more personal and unified feel (that is, not only songs that House would theoretically listen to, but also songs that say something about House, as a character). Also, with my own recent jazz kick, I couldn't bare to leave out some classic jazz. (And what I did leave out of the mix -- that is, Herbie Hancock's "Succotash" -- is available here.)

The final product: This mix, with songs that remind me of House's personality, his vicodin addiction, and -- most obviously -- his relationships with both Stacy and Wilson (and, if you like, with Cameron).

--- 1 ---
Miles Davis - Générique
(instrumental)

--- 2 ---
The Raconteurs - Blue Veins
Then I looked over
Just in time to see her smiling back at me
And saying everything's OK
As long as you're inside my blue veins

--- 3 ---
The Black Keys - Keep Your Hands Off Her
(Junior Kimbrough cover)
Keep your hands off that girl
She don't belong to you

--- 4 ---
James Yorkston & the Athletes - Tender To The Blues
But I'm no fool -- my heart's just exposed
I'm just weathering the floods
And you're not the girl I thought, I suppose
You leave me tender to the blues

--- 5 ---
Afterhours - The Thin White Line
Turn me on, white curse
Use my soul, it's yours

--- 6 ---
Lone Pigeon & King Creosote - Unknown Yesterday
If I were to paint a portrait of all the pretty colors in my mind
I could paint a solitary figure of a lonely man who's blind

--- 7 ---
The Frames - What Happens When The Heart Just Stops
So what happens when the heart gives up
But the body goes on living
The blood crawls to a slow and stops
And flows away

--- 8 ---
Clinic - Harmony
I believe in solitude

--- 9 ---
Shearwater - Whipping Boy
If I told you once, then I told you twice
That I would have paid just about any price
Just to see him jump, just to see him laugh
I would have washed in the blood of an innocent man

--- 10 ---
Magnolia Electric Co. - The Dark Don't Hide It
Human hearts and pain should never be separate

--- 11 ---
Malcolm Middleton - Devastation
How long can I be myself before you get up and go?

--- 12 ---
Pip Dylan, King Creosote, & James Yorkston - Lavender Moon
Had a dream last night of you
Wandering down an empty street, and down a lane
So I ran up to you
Tripping over cobblestones when I awoke, alone and in vain

--- 13 ---
The National - Daughters Of The Soho Riots
How can anybody know
How they got to be this way
You must have known
I'd do this someday

--- 14 ---
Bill Wells & Isobel Campbell - Ghost Of Yesterday
(Billie Holiday cover)
Ghost of yesterday
Stalking 'round my room
All night long you stay
Walk around in profound gloom

--- 15 ---
Califone - Wingbone
Cold light sifting through
Lift the shade and let the night in

--- 16 ---
John Coltrane - Tunji
(instrumental)

--- 17 ---
Mercury Rev - Vermillion
Some words just take so long to say

--- 18 ---
Vetiver - Been So Long
I can't believe that you're knocking, knocking on my door
Oh, it's been so long, been so long

Dave Brubeck - Home At Last
(instrumental)
