I've decided to set daily goals. I've been thinking in too broad, generalized goals (ie lose 10 pounds). I really really really hate to say it, but the stupid SMART acronym used at work is a good way to set up my daily goals. I want to be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound. A and R are kind of the same thing, but the point is, I want to be explicit, for every day. By the night before, I will set my goals for the next day. I will absolutely state them to myself, and journal them as much as possible. So, last night I set three goals: 1. get up at 6am when alarm goes off; 2. exercise for 20 minutes; and 3. eat well. I hit the snooze once, so I'm only at 80% for getting up. I did the elliptical so I'm at 100% for excercising (go me!). Eating well is actually too vague. I need to be more specific with that one. So, I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, two scrambled eggs (the fancy kind) for a morning snack. I'll have the protein shake and salad for lunch and a protein bar for an afternoon snack. For dinner, I will finish off the salmon and have broccoli and two potatao pierogies. The big challenge will be the evening. I need to think about that.
I also want to work on reducing stress. I want to look through some concrete strategies for that. Environment? Meditation? Yoga? Hmmm, interesting possibilities.
I am also going to take Phebe for a short walk this evening. Due to her strained shoulder, the vet said not to walk her until Saturday, but she isn't limping AT ALL. I'm still using a leash for the backyard. She hates that but the risk of her taking off after a rabbit is too great. I'll see how the short walk goes.
The main point is, to set specific goals and yet not turn this into a big stressful production. So I only need to change my entire personality to achieve that!!! :<)
