I am going to go from Friday to Tuesday to second beach near La Push on the coast. If anyone wants to join me, please do! I will be going at this alone probably, hitching and taking public transit, so I would like to meet people there and have it be self sufficient.
There is a $5 fee for a group to enter the national park and $2/person/night camping fee. The beach is 1.5 miles from the parking lot and all food must be stored in bear cans (rentable at Alpine for $10 a weekend in Olympia, available somewhere, REI, in Seattle). This is wilderness camping so what you pack in is what you pack out, no water access (unless you got a filter) and no toilets except the ocean at low tide...
Imagine, five days at a secluded beach in Washington...miles of that beach...miles...
Here is the bus schedule for Friday morning. It will be different on the weekends and on Memorial day.
Olympia Transit Center bus #40 to Aberdeen at 7:55 and 10:00am. Arrive in Aberdeen at 9:20 and 11:25am respectively.
Bus #60 from Aberdeen transit at 11:30am arrive in Amanda Park at 12:45 to connect to the Jefferson Transit bus at 12:53 to Forks, arrive 1:45pm.
One mile north of forks is La Push Rd (HWY 110), follow that west until the Second Beach parking lot (left hand side, garbage and toilets).
http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USWA0216?from=month_topnav_undeclared Sunday and Tuesday have a 60% chance of rain and the other days have a 20% or 30% chance. Highs in the mid 60s and lows in the 50s.
