Today, I met not one, but two kids who are working with a Mennonite group to encourage peace in Cambodia (answer that one, Giovanni...)
Tonight was even CRAZIER!!!
The cashier/manager of the school invited me out to dinner tonight which is a normal occurrence for a relationship between the Barang and the Khmer...
We ate dinner and drank a shit ton of beer and I even bought a pack of cigarettes which I didn't want to, but when I drink, I smoke, and could only smoke four because the rest got wet when I laid it on the table...it got all wet which is all the better cause I didn't want to smoke anyway...after much negotiation I finally got the car keys and I got to drive around Prey Veng which is safe, even when you are a bit drunk cause there isn't anyone on the streets to stop you or for you to hit, everyone is home by 8pm here usually.... As we (I) drove around we (I) encountered some MPs and with no problems we made our way to the hotel I stay at.
So, back to where we were...after drinking and eating cow brains at the restaurant which I was initially opposed to (because of mad cow disease) we went to the karaoke bar and I requested about 5 songs in a row from the only English language VCDs they had (the same they had at Bokor last year which makes me think it is the only one in the country), "Waiting For You" (I think it is called) by Bryan Adams, "Like a Virgin" by Madonna, and "My Girl" by The Temptations which was very appropriate regarding my current lack of a love life, and I was encouraged to dance but I didn't want to...so I didn't. Then we left (this is when I drove). I drove for the first time in Cambodia, I drove for the first time in a right hand drive car and was finally dropped off at my hotel. Now I am here and a bunch of drunk Khmers are still up because they've been celebrating a wedding for the past THREE DAYS!!!!
All in all, a good night and I have many ideas for a mixed tape.

P.S. CNNAsia has been showing the SAME information on the ticker for the past two weeks now yet they don't talk about it. Instead they are talking about the insatiable appetite China's new upper class has for luxury goods. (My mom likes me to buy her the fake stuff when I am here...)
