Kinda pathetic first attempt.
That plastic stuff is hard to use on concrete.
I'm going to try building a frame around the outside of the stencil to make it a little more rigid and flat, see if that helps. This one is a positive though, not sure exactly how I'd brace that one. Popsicle sticks? Haha.
Oh yeah, I forgot. I applied to be a DJ at KCPR. Not really sure if I want to do it still. We'll see. If I get in I'll take it, but if not then whatever. I put very little into it. I kinda have a lot of stuff going on again, even though I was trying to take it easy this quarter. I have 13 hour days on Tuesday / Thursday and work on the other weekdays. Which isn't bad, but I'm also taking a massage class and workin on my portfolio and doing AIGA stuff. And if I put KCPR on top of it then that puts me back at having something to do every single day. No days off. Weird. At least it's not all classwork though. I really enjoy everything I'm doing, it just happens to be a lot of stuff. Idle hands you know.
We had a guest speaker on Friday night, Kit Hinrichs from Pentagram in SF. Awesome designer, Pentagram is one of the largest firms in the country. This guy is a big name, and he spoke highly of our program. Which made me happy. It made me more happy that he singled out Lisa's work from the student show not knowing it was hers and said that it was an excellent solution. Gave her his card. Freaking awesome. I wish I had put stuff in the show, but timing worked out weird and I didn't have anything I really liked enough to contribute anyways. I need to work on that.
Yeah, I think that's about all I have right now. I'm really happy at the moment. I'm seein a girl I really like, exercising a lot, working on cool projects. Spring quarter is the exciting one in the art department, everyone's work starts to come together, and everything tightens up until the circus hits a fever pitch at portfolio review and studio tours May 20-21st. I'm giddy. I need to start planning this Europe trip too, if anyone wants to go talk to me. I'm serious. I want somebody to travel with for a bit. Sounding more like just the month of August now. Ireland, England, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Maybe Norway/Finland and Greece, ending up in Italy for the school trip in September.
