Just type “Persepolis (film)” in Wikipedia if you want more comprehensive pieces of information about the movie.

Animated films don’t appeal much to me, but this is definitely a magnificent exception. The animation may not be that mind-blowing compared to all those Disney flicks, but the story exceedingly made up for it. The Jury Prize award in the 2007 Cannes Film Festival is a gleaming validation. I’m going to say it now: this is one of the best movies of the century. You heard it first from me.

It’s funny. It’s informative. The depiction of the ruling Iranian zeitgeist is simply exceptional. The pop culture injections are brilliant. It’s sincere and honest. It’s hard not to fall in love with it. To borrow a phrase straight out of a teenage girl’s diary, it’s simply adorable.

Stop reading this piece of rubbish. Go out and buy the DVD now!
