I'm going to make this a public post! :O

Basically, I'm looking for recommendations. TV programme recommendations!

I've just attacked the IMDb and made a hugely long list of things to get hold of but I was wondering what you would suggest I watch :)

Judging from the way I felt during studying Media, I am not a big fan of sci-fi. I do, however, seem ( Read more... )

"The Vice" - late 90's ITV1 drama starring Ken Stott and ably supported by Caroline Catz :) Also, it'll have more guest stars in episodes that you recognise than you though possible - including Peter Firth, Sophie Stanton, Marc Warren, Sarah Parrish, and so on...

"A Fine Romance" - early 80's romantic comedy with Judi Dench and Michael Williams as Mike and Laura, a pair so socially incompetent it's scary...but very funny. Watching this was when I became a DJD fan, all those years ago. *sigh*

Did I remember correctly that you haven't watched 'Life On Mars'? If not then you should definately remedy that!

"Sex, chips and rock 'n' roll" was a BBC1 drama series by Debbie Horsfield [who also wrote 'Cutting It' - another one worth a look if you've not see it but the first 2 series are better than the last two]. Set in the 60's it told the story of two sisters, Arden and Ellie, who try to escape from the home of the domineering Gran [played by Sue Johnstone, who is scarily evil!], by joining a band called 'The Ice Cubes' as backing singers. Joe McFadden, Gillian Kearney, Phil Daniels and David Threlfall also star.

"At home with the Braithwaites" was mad but I loved it. "Teachers" was also quite insane but brilliant - only bother with the first 3 series though.

"Preston Front" was also great and the first series had Stephen Tompkinson in it. Gentle comedy drama that one about the lives of a group of TA members.

If you can find 'Lucky Jim' to download anywhere then do. Loved that adaptation with Stephen Tompkinson and Keeley Hawes, it's great fun and perfect Christmas viewing really!

Thank you! They're great suggestions - I had 'The Vice' on my list actually ^_^ & I love 'Teachers' though I agree that the fourth series wasn't as good :(
