I'm going to make this a public post! :O
Basically, I'm looking for recommendations. TV programme recommendations!

Takin' Over the Asylum (Ken Stott and David Tennant and one of the best pieces of tv in the last 15 years)
Press Gang series 1-5 (though you should probably start with series 2. None of your favourites and it's technically a kids' programme, but so worth watching! And it's written by Steven Moffat, so what more needs to be said? :))
And while I'm on kids tv, Century Falls is fantastic and still sends shivers down my spine. Written by Russell T Davies.
A couple of others - if you want something to make you think and cry, Care, starring Steven Mackintosh. The first thing I watched on tv that made me sob my heart out. Definitely not easy watching. Same can be said for Hillsborough by Jimmy McGovern (the second thing I watched on tv that made me sob my heart out!). And finally, a drama set in a school - Hearts and Minds, also by Jimmy McGovern and starring Christopher Eccleston as a new, idealistic teacher in a city centre comprehensive. I haven't seen it since it was first broadcast, so maybe it's not as good as I remember it being, but I loved it.
And oh oh oh, how could I forget?! Our Friends in the North, starring Christopher Eccleston, Gina McKee, Mark Strong and Daniel Craig (in the role that first got him seriously noticed). I cannot recommend this highly enough - it even beats Takin' Over the Asylum. It's a long series, as it follows the four main characters over about 40 years or so, but it's totally fantastic!
