Challenge from my brother - World
Sometimes I think my competitive nature will be the death of me … that and my pride XD
So me and my brother were having a conversation and something came up that made my brother say that all the great writers that were able to create amazing fictional worlds and cultures like Lord of Rings and Star Wars were high on drugs when these brilliant ideas came to mind. This is how the conversation roughly went on
Start
Bro: all great writers who created these worlds were able to do that while being high
Me: so … you are saying one can only create worlds like that if they were high
Bro: exactly
Me: that has nothing to do with it; Tolkien used actual events to create some scenes in Lord of the rings
Bro: but the fact that he was high helped him; I mean who thinks of having one ring who is all-powerful and an evil eye of flames while being completely sober and in his right mind
Me: *jaw drops*
Bro: I’ll give you another good example: in star wars one of the most powerful beings is a little green midget .. How the hell was he able to create that character. Oh and light sabers.. I mean before Star Wars; what were light sabers to begin with. There is no way that anyone can think of that in their right mind
Me: its called creativity and imagination (please ignore the Barney rant)
Bro: and drugs!
Me: you’re insane... it doesn’t prove anything .. I created my own world too … *hints to Nanowrimo 2010 novel*
Bro: you created an environment not a world with creatures …weather... Culture
Me: but that’s the first step and I only had 30 days to do it.. If I dug deeper I could make one if I wanted to with a good amount of time.
Bro: okay .. do it then; create a completely original world (he knows I will never high or drunk) and prove me wrong
