In Memory of a Leader, Teacher, Care giver and Father

Nov 02, 2010 20:29

This Journal is just me wanting to give tribute to someone who I hold very close to my heart. This person was like a father to me and to many people across this country. One of the biggest hearts that I believe has ever lived and one of the few people who placed his country, his people and his traditions above everything else in the world.

Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan

(1918 - 2 November 2004)

This Great man has been someone whom the Emirati people have united in their love for him, I can clearly say that not one person in the United Arab Emirates thought badly of him or was even a bit disappointed in him. All his years that he was as the president of the UAE, he always placed his people first, whatever they needed/wanted he gave it to them, no questions asked. He was amoung the founding father of this country, I name them (sheikh rashid bin saeed al maktoum, sheikh maktoum bin rashid al maktoum and many others) who gave their best efforts to ensure that their people lived a comfortable life. He was the man who contributed in free and equal education for males and females. He was the man who said "Arab Blood is more expensive than Arab Oil"

A very large percent of what the United Arab Emirates is today is because of the efforts of this man. Yet he was a modest Man, proud of his roots, religion and traditions with a heart of gold. Scratch that .. Gold would be an understatement of how giving, kind, generous and good hearted this man was

No words can describe the love that I held for this person and how broken I felt to hear of his passing. Today marks the 6th year of his death but my feelings are still raw about it, an overwelming saddness and anguish fill my heart when I recall what occured 6 years ago.I feel this way about this person although I have never met him.

What comforts me is that I know that he is has fufilled his duty on this Earth and is now in a much better place. Allah yr7amk obona zayed, doomik fee 8loob sha3bik (Rest In peach Father Zayed .. You will always be in the hearts of your people)

As a closing note, I would like to extend my gratitude to our current leaders who are equally working hard to ensure that everything that our founding father is maintained and grows to become better.
