And to think I actually shipped Inuyasha and Kagome for years. Now Hear me out... Back then I didn’t watch the whole show, I still haven’t watched the whole thing, just a couple of dozen episodes here and there but I could understand what was going, who the characters were and what they were going through.
As someone who did not know a lot of the anime and the back story, I shipped those Inuyasha and Kagome because it was the obvious choice
I’ve hated Kikyo at that time, I always saw her as the jealous ex girlfriend who screwed her boyfriend and now is possessive over him because her sister has him now.
As the series progress, I found Kagome becoming more and more angst to the point where I started to roll my eyes as to how much she angst about Inuyasha not returning her feelings to the point where I literally yelled to the screen
“oh boohoo we get it .. he may not return your feeling … shut up already!”
What bothered me the most was the fact that although all of the other characters have real reasons why they should angst. Sango having her brother under Naraku’s control, Miroku had a freakn tunnel in his hand and don’t get me started on what Inuyasha has to deal with. But despite that Kagome seemed to angst the most out of all of them just because the guy she likes might not return her feelings -.-
That’s when I started to really hate Kagome as a character and not want her with Inuyasha.
What I didnt know is Inuyasha and Kikyo's REAL Story. I was getting curious as to why people liked her so much and why do they ship Inuyasha and Kikyo so I started to do some research
and boy what a punch in the face that was!
After reading how Naraku used both of them to make it seem like they betrayed each other was unbelievable. It made me realize that it wasn’t any of their faults how they started to hate each other, or that they had to betray each other. They were both tricked into thinking the other didn’t mean as much to them as what they felt about the other. It is a heartbreaking relationship. What Kikyo and Inuyasha had was real, Inuyasha even made up his mind about becoming human for her, and when it came down to Kagome he was sorta hesitant about that, mostly because Kagome wanted points with him by stating that she likes him the way that he is. *gag me*
That is what I truly love and had hoped for Inuyasha and Kikyo’s relationship, to have it be repaired, but alas it is not meant to be after Kikyo’s death. Now Kikyo is one of my fav charecters of the series
