The problem with society

Recently, while letting my mind wander on the absence of intelligence in this world, it occured to me. A word, a word that should only be such, not a title. Now keep in mind you must be open-minded in thinkig such things as to not get offended. But if you do i really don't care, that is your own stupidity.

Gay - adj. merry: full of light-heartedness and merriment, carefree: having or showing a carefree spirit, brightly colored. Now, there is also another definition, which i am sure you all know. But why? Why should a word meaning such things as light-heartedness, or carefree, be reduced to a word of degredation?

For example, no names metioned, but how does someone who does nothing but sit at home on the internet, watching tv, eating and growing larger day by day, depressed with their own life because they cannot find companionship, be called gay? In this case the two contradict each other do they not? But no, society has given a word of happiness, and merriment a sense of worthlessness because it cannot be used without being deemed offensive or someone chuckling.

If one is to have an attraction to the same sex, that is homosexuality. Thus also bringing to one, the exact opposite of what the word means, first degredation from other people not of the sort causing people of the sort pain and unhappiness. If this has offended anyone in anyway, it should teach you to be more open minded about the subject at hand.
