It seems as though I am making a slow and steady return to society. It has been a difficult year to say the least. The unemployment drought of five months is over and I have a new legal assistant job in Orinda. The company I work for specializes in finance, which is a completely new industry to me. I cannot say how nice it is to be wanted and appreciated by your professional peers. A feeling I had missed terribly.
To my friends who I still love but had abandoned and/or ignored for a long time I owe you my sincerest apologies. I just recently ended a difficult yet worthwhile 11 month relationship and life as I know it is getting back to normal. It’s hard to have a conversation with someone who has their head vacillating from the clouds to the mud, and that summarizes how I’ve been for a long time. Rather than talk about it to anyone I chose to keep my drama out of the limelight and deal with it alone. It was harder that way though, and I probably should have tried to establish a better support system but I got through it with good lessons learned.
On to better things and newer news. I have my own apartment in San Francisco now. It is largely void of furniture so I’ve been scouring Craigslist looking for living room and bedroom furniture. New to me is looking for patio furniture, since for the first time ever I have a back patio. Parking near downtown is still hideous and again I reevaluate my need for a car. Times like this I really wish BART ran down the peninsula. To hell with those San Mateans and their politics.
Other than that, my goals for this spring are to spend as much time outside as possible (camping, yes!), renew old friendships and make some new ones. Hope to see many of you along the way.
