I've not done one of these for a while, but waffling about the spoof Sound of Music poster last week (
http://sensaes.livejournal.com/470216.html) made me feel a bit nostalgic, so:
The "meta" part comes in, I suppose, because the original film, Jacques Tourneur's superb 1957 horror classic, Night of the Demon (a.k.a. Curse of the Demon in the USA), isn't just one of my favourites; Kate Bush sampled the film's soundtrack (specifically Maurice Denham's lines used at the top of my little homage, there) for the title track of her 1985 album, Hounds of Love.
Additionally, the story upon which the film (
http://imdb.com/title/tt0050766/) was based, M. R. James' The Casting of the Runes, is another old fave of mine, and I remember attempting a super-spooky reading of it for some mates one Christmas.
Oh, and that really is a pencil in the picture, by the way. The same one featured here:
http://sensaes.livejournal.com/470797.html (More meta.)
And that's quite enough silliness for one Saturday...
I didn't think he was one of us.
No, "he" isn't. Stand down the guards, Grimley...
