Although it's easy to argue that the job scene has always been a buyer's market, one especially gruesome weapon in the employer's arsenal seems to have been reloaded with customised dum-dum bullets since the downturn. I'm referring, of course, to the Overqualified-for-this-Position Hand Cannon, an item of ordinance which is utilised to take out any number of otherwise promising graduates in order to clear a path for a less demanding, easier to control job candidate with relatively lower expectations of salary, prospects, and - let's face it - life in general.
No one's saying that the following article (and the Amy Gallo post it references) will replace those lethal cartridges with blanks, but perhaps it is a start:
