...but Richard Stanley's Hardware (1990) is finally available as a legit special edition DVD in the UK.
It's been a heck of a wait, and longstanding readers will be aware that this film has resided on "The List"* (along with The Fencing Master, and Robert Fuest's version of Moorcock's The Final Programme) ever since I first started blabbing about movies on LiveJournal back in 2003. Replacing my knackered 4Front VHS copy was long overdue, and I'm delighted to report that the bonus features, along with art cards and a nice little booklet featuring liner notes by Kim Newman and the original (controversially inspirational) 2000 AD comic strip, are excellent - the deleted and extended scenes are especially welcome, and Stanley's commentary is just as entertaining as his one for Dust Devil.
If you're unfamiliar with this under-rated cinematic cyberpunk classic, I can recommend Jon Fortgang's review:

Muso bonus: Simon Boswell's score for the film was terrific, but the standout track for many people - myself included - was "The Order of Death" by Public Image Ltd. (John Lydon was originally cast as the voice of DJ Angry Bob but, due to a falling-out with Virgin, was replaced by Iggy Pop.) Here's the track...

*Basically an extended howl for some old favourites to be given second chances, and make the format jump to something more durable than magnetic tape.
