today i was driving to gainesville via I 75 and came up on the most touching caravan i've ever seen. It's right up there with all the electricians and bucket trucks i saw headed to different parts of Florida after the hurricanes last season. Today I saw a caravan of U-Haul trucks. Each truck had it's flashers on and each truck had a tarp duct taped to the back of it. Each tarp said two simple words: "Katrina Relief"
What an act of selflessness. these people are renting these trucks and spending their money on gas and drive load after load of necessary supplies to the people who need them most right now. it was beyond touching to me and i wish i could have hugged each of them and sent some of my thoughts and prayers with them.
the people in the U-Hauls were mere citizens. They were families, business men and women, they were people touched by this tragedy. There was one truck with a little girl and (who i think was) her dad and their dog. there was another truck with just a young guy in it. there was yet another truck with two young ladies in it. these are only people, people just like the people struggling to survive in all the devastated areas.
