The reciprocal of pied

I never really intended to sort out the 6-point Goudy. It's tiny and difficult, and there's a lot of it. But I was trying to set some more pages of my book, and was increasingly frustrated at how much everything was in the wrong place, and clogged up with wholly unrelated sizes and faces of type, and so eventually I just gave up and started cleaning the case anyway.

There turned out to be no fewer than four fonts in there: two of Goudy, and two of some geometric sans-serif which didn't look quite like Futura. It's closer to Kabel, maybe. But I'm pretty sure it's not either of those, because the Q is wrong. I started pulling it all out and putting it into an empty case. When I get it all assembled, I'll have to set a nice sample, and print it, so as to make identification easier.

Five hours later, I was about half done with the case I'd been working on, and decided to just call it a day. I'm hoping I'll be able to get it finished tomorrow, and get back to the book itself. It's frustrating to have all these delays, but of course that's why I'm there in the first place, to get the type back in order so it will be possible to actually use it instead of fighting it. And I'm pleased with the discovery of the 12-point sans, whatever it turns out to be. It's not listed in any of our inventory books, and I suspect nobody knows it's there at all.

Besides that, the necklace I've been trying to make isn't working at all. Bah. Phooey.
