On my way to school this morning, I noticed a squirrel running across the street, barely missing a few cars. He made it to the sidewalk only ten feet or so in front of me. Of course, maybe he was afraid of you, how ever wrongly. And ran in fear, instead of facing it, right back out into traffic.

No, no!

It's not your fault a squirrel is scared of you. Maybe other big tall mowhawked boys in it's past hurt him. And he just about got killed by a car. Adrenaline is pretty high and everything seems like a threat.

I bet once it had time to chill out in safetly on the grass, it wouldn't be scared of you at all.

Perhaps. But going on my past experience with squirrels, even with time, they tend to run if you make any sudden movements.
