Heaven forbid immigrants might be patriotic...

I think the most ironic part of this is when the person says that Irish people would be offended if their national anthem were sung in another language, when in fact, the Irish National Anthem is in two different languages.

if the official language was English, then you should sing it in English. Last time I checked, I don't think we have an official language. (Though I want there to be one and I want it to be English...) So yeah, until English is the official language, sing it however you want.

Um... That is the stupidest thing I've ever read. Then again I come from a country where our national anthem is sung in two language. I feel like singing in a different language is a good thing.

On thinking more about this, I began to wonder... How should Puerto Ricans sing the National Anthem? Would it be acceptable for Native Americans to sing it in Cherokee or Lakota? How about for Aleutians to sing it in Aleut or Russian? What about Amish people singing it in Pennsylvania German? When did speaking a "foreign" language suddenly become equivalent to being an immigrant?
