Title: they were jumping from towers
Author: cloudytea
Characters/Parings: Claire/Sawyer
Rating: PG-13
Summary: The tune's gone bad. For lost_in_108's prompt Song.

It’s the same old song and dance, but the tune’s gone bad.

After Aaron’s been put to sleep (a large hand ruffles the boy’s yellow hair, his mother’s hair) and the house has settled to a deathly silence, they lie in bed and rehearse these roles they’ve unwillingly taken.

She calls him James and his shoulders become rigid. Her small frame houses an escape for his overbearing one, and he whisper words that aren’t for her (you okay, sweetheart?) but she nods anyways and swallows tears that aren’t for him.

(we ain‘t right, claire, and you know it)

But then again, when have they ever been right?
