Let me go, Jules, he says in the voice of her ex-husband. Let me go home.
He whispers these pleas, bites down on her shoulders and engraves empty threats into her skin. Her nails drag across his back and she closes her eyes when his lips don’t leave scars (a rarity), crying out his name in blasphemy.
(he never bleeds)
She bleeds, though. And bones crack.
Over my dead body, she rasps.
He bites down on her lips, the taste of blood and ash flooding her mouth as he runs his fingertips over a broken and bruised collarbone.
We’ll have to see what we can do about that.
