Kate. She hates the way her name sounds on his tongue. Between sips of steaming coffee (black, if you don‘t mind) she ponders the irony of the situation -- three years ago, she was a prisoner and he was using caffeine as bribery.
Ben breaks the news like an afterthought. Jack isn’t coming back.
She silences him with a kiss. I know.
Redemption is relative. She can still taste the bitterness on his lips -- and it isn't just the coffee.
