I tried that with the Nuvaring. It made me even more depressed than just taking the pill did. To be fair, every body responds differently (and I know a lot of women for whom it's a huge blessing), but I'm most definitely not a fan.

Nuvaring made me slowly go insane over a number of years. By the end, I started having panic attacks when the pizza man would ring the doorbell. I just couldn't handle the hormones in Nuvaring, I guess.

Yup. Sounds just like me. Yasmin did the same thing, to a much lesser degree, which is odd, considering the actual amounts of the hormones in the bloodstream are much lower and more constant in Nuvaring. Hormones do really odd things sometimes.

There's a couple of quotes in the article that make me wonder if some effects aren't heightened by birth control ( ... )

Just like to add that although some woman do have severe depression/panic attacks whatever as a possible reaction to birth control, there are some woman like me who find that being on the pill reduces depression and anxiety symptoms greatly. Antidepressants and therapy didn't do the trick, but as soon as I got on the pill I was 'better'.

I used depo provera a couple of years and it went fine except for the weight gain. With the pill i had the same symptoms as with no contraception but I tried once to make a cycle longer and i felt verry bad like if it "wasnt right" with my body.. It was psychological, no physical symptoms other than caused by the stress of the feeling.. Maybe it was just me or the hormones....

I worked at an OB-Gyn office. We kept almost as many antidepressants in stock to give as samples as birth control pills. It's not that uncommon...

On the other hand, Nuvaring is the only one that didn't make me go insane.. It's so odd that they all affect people so differently..

Nuvaring kind of made me want to die also...so much for lower hormone doses!
