It was mercifully brief.

For a few hours the community was deleted and malkin and I were removed as maintainers (so we couldn't fix it). Sugarimp is/was our other maintainer, and it looks like her account has been hacked and whoever did it had some fun at our community's expense (deleting the community and changing all the settings).

The "sugarimp" user name no longer has access to our community, so we shouldn't have any more trouble and I believe we've put all the settings back to their original state.

Wish sugarimp good luck, goodness knows what else the hacker has done....

For a time, there was an anthropologist post that went to (I think) a Russian malware site via starturl.com links designed to look like an LJ-cut tag.

I noticed that when I archived the community, but wasn't sure when it was posted or how long it was up (it was post dated to late tonight). Thanks for letting me know that I shouldn't have to worry about it popping up later.

Of course in the future feel free to contact me or malkin if you see something fishy. Generally we're pretty fast about deleting spam, but a heads up can't hurt :)

liberal was just hacked today. I haven't read that community in years but I was still a member. I began receiving numerous e-mails that I had become a moderator and then another e-mail stating that my status was removed. Happened to every member of that community.

Well, I guess we're in good company. Obama's Twitter account was also hacked recently.

I wonder if something's up....
