Hello everyone :)

My name is Ellen, I'm 20 years old and I am an anthropology major transferring from University of Wisconsin Waukesha to University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I'm really excited to start there. I decided to go to that school after I was done at UW Waukesha, because it's a two year school, because UW Milwaukee is attached to the public museum in Milwaukee. So when I do my graduate work I'll be able to train there.
Also Milwaukee has sister schools in Heissen. I'm really hoping to study in Frankfort am die Main.
I'm so very happy to find this community. I almost dread having to answer the question "what's you major?" Because, of course, when you say "anthropology" most people just look at you blankly. This makes me so sad, because I honestly believe anthropologists do some of the world’s most important work.
I've always wanted to be an anthropologist, my whole life, at least as far back as I can remember. You know how little kids always ask a million questions about why things are the way that they are; I was one of those kids. When I was interested in China for a time I had to know why red was important, what the stars on the Chinese flag meant, why the women bid their feet...you get the idea. And I always watched the Discovery channel and the like. I saw Bob Breier(sp?) standing in an ancient Egypt tomb talking away. And I wanted to do that so bad; I just didn't know that that kind of job had an actual name. I've also always felt so at peace and happy in museums. It's odd because the only other times I've felt that kind of calmness has been in churches.
I'm no longer a little girl but I'm still desperate to know why and have Bob's career.

greetings
