Does anyone have any sources for information on Australopithecus garhi? Specifically, I need the period during which it lived. All of the sources I have merely say 2.5 mya, but nothing other than that. All the sources I have looked at only give that. Thanks in advance.

The tree I have here is a graphical representation, so my figures might be a little off, but it looks like garhi spans 2.7 - 2.3 mya. Unfortunately it's a random class handout (photocopy from some textbook), so I can't source that for you.

I did a Google search, and most of the things I was looking at said 2.5 mya specifically, which I think means the dates for the actual fossils. Wikipedia and a very other sources on the internet said from 2.0 to 3.0 mya. I hope that helps!

I think the reason garhi is listed at only 2.5 mya is because that's all that's been found. We don't have enough to actually construct a range.

The reason there's so little data on Gahri available is because Tim White is a paranoid monomaniac who won't allow comparative study of any fossils he finds or those found by anyone in his clique, and no one else can get into the area to hunt for more because you have to be part of aforesaid clique to access the parts of Africa White effectively controls. Until he relaxes a bit and allows access to his materials, you're not going to find much on them. The holotype of Ardipithecus ramidus is similarly poorly studied for the same reason.

Not so much cynical as professionally frustrated.
