Having a moderately amusing day today. The sun is shining, the fish are happy, the cats are asleep inside (Smarmy-cat got shut outside by accident last night and spent the storm in the shed - he's making up for lost warm snoozing time on the bed) and the dog is determined to watch everything I do. And I mean everything -
"There's something in the fridge? Lemme see! On the table? Show! In your cup? Let me check it really is coffee you are looking at! Hey, where are you going? No! Don't shut the door or I'll never find out what you flush in that little room!"
Back to looking for work. Back to Agencies who don't ever seem to believe me when I say no temp work. Ah well. I found out that my old job in Melbourne has moved or something, and my two referees from that job no longer work there. It annoys me no end that no one will give writen references any more. When I first moved home from the UK, trying to get references from my Welsh employers was a nightmare. Especially when the dolts in Australia didn't seem to get the concept of a time difference...
What else? We've had a few nice evenings where we've had friends over for dinner recently. It's nice to just have an evening of chatting with friends, especially the ones I normally see in specific circumstances, like rehersals or SCA events. Drakey made a fab meal for Saturday, while I spent the day swanning around doing archery in the hills. It's been about 8 years since I last did any and my sense of self preservation of my forearm has definately disappeared.
For those who don't know, one of the skeletal differences between men and women is that our forearms are constructed differently. The upshot of this is that when women draw a bow, they have to bend their arm at a somewhat weird and slightly uncomfortable angle or the string slaps straight into the soft and tender underside of the forearm. I have a beautiful purple and yellow bruise the size of a footprint on my arm - really shows up well against the very white skin there. All the more pretty because the blood is slowly seeping around my elbow. Next time, I wear a vambrace.
Ah well, must get back to job seeking stuff...
