I felt pretty down this evening, because I cleaned up the kitchen, I washed a stack of dishes and clothes, I put clean stuff away, I cleared and cleaned the kitchen table, I put in a solid 5 hours work, and I felt like I achieved nothing, because it was all general housework and not fixing the outstanding problems.
But I've been sitting here thinking about it, and I've come to a few conclusions:
Yes, J-Bear and I need to pull our fingers out, get the roster drawn up and started. She agrees, and it's her job tomorrow morning to draw it up. But I did achieve some needed stuff today.
- We now have a blackboard for the kitchen; tomorrow I'll put 2 nails in the wall so we can hang it and the pin board, thus having a place for tasks, bills, notes, work schedules, etc.
- I cleaned out a stack of grot from the bathroom and it's now almost ready for the shelves to be moved in.
- I shifted some of the backlog of dirty dishes that can't go through the dishwasher, and everything now has a place in the cupboards.
- The backlog of dirty laundry is almost completely done and is all dried, despite the horrible weather conspiring against that.
It's a small victory, but it is one. I feel frustrated that I 'wasted time' doing stuff that we allowed to build up instead of dealing with on a daily basis, but the point I need to acknowledge is that progression was made.
On Monday, I will no longer be catless. I'm very, very excited. Except for the kitten-poo bit. House-training young animals sucks. But it's worth it to have them in my life. I miss Onslow terribly, and he can't be replaced, but it will be nice to have a new bundle of feline to help fill the horrible void Smoochy-Boy left.
