Oh Dear.

We've just got back from seeing Oliver Stone's "Alexander" at the cinema. What can I say? Ummm...

There was lots of very pretty fabric.

Really, don't bother. I don't think it's even worth changing the chanel for when it comes out on TV. Criminally miscast, appallingly scripted, not even vaguely historically accurate (hey, they misnamed half the Greek/Macedonian Generals and couldn't even get the colour of his horse right) and woefully costumed - Alexander's army looked to be mainly populated by surfer dudes in heavy eyeliner and shirts from Community Aid Abroad and Oxfam. Oh yes, and apparently, Macedonians from circa 330 BC had Oirish accents. And because oliver Stone doesn't seem to be capable of making a movie without a conspiracy theory, Alexander, we learn, was poisoned and didn't die of malaria, but Ptolemy covered it up.

$24 and three hours badly mispent.
