just now, on my way home from christmas in martin county, i collected an above average rebate (~$1.50 at a .25 exit) on the 528 toll road. as i was parked at the automated toll machine and out of my car retrieving my money, the oddest thing happened. with no deposit -- and not a single person/car in sight -- the machine made a short clicking noise and the red "stop" light that had been illuminating the dark clearing in the woods switched to the green "thank you" light.
