ONE WEEK

thursday - left pretty late (2am friday morning) to go see a sneak preview of teeny bopper hilary duff's latest movie. enjoyable.

friday - applied for a job at the last place i every thought i'd apply. (developing...) watched the second presidential debate. town hall style, my favorite. frankie and his roommate came over shortly after midnight. we walked to a party in the gatherings, the place where i almost got hit by mace from police during a party sept 11, 2002. met hans after his universal horror nights shift at a restaurant. went to la casa with frankie around sunrise, slept there.

saturday - woke up to todd asking me if i wanted his extra ticket to see the pixies in ritzy boca raton. my brother and his girlfriend were just then arriving to leave with him, so i threw on some pants. todd rules. the pixies rules. it was an awesome show and a fun trip. got back to la casa early sunday morning where frankie was holding down the fort all by himself. watched some tv and fell asleep.

sunday - woke up. chris had a dudebro craving for a football game that wasn't on our cable network. frankie and i got in his suv and went all the way to the alehouse in the tourism district, just to watch jockos manhandle each other. we had a good time. practiced the boomerang in a schoolyard with frankie, then went back to my apartment.

monday - back to work. also kept working on finding a job.

tuesday - after almost two days of staying in my room, hans stopped by unexpectedly and drove me to the new taco bell/long john silver cobranded facility. the pockets of fishiness in the air... pretty gross. hans let me know that everyone chipped in to sponsor my trip to horror nights the next day. frankie had invited me to hang with him and seven girls (don't ask), but horror nights would be the rarer occurence.

wednesday - helped out hans and his distressed car. also aided by the craziest good samaritan ever. went to horror nights. had at least a dozen mini-heart attacks. i felt targeted throughout the whole night -- maybe due to my hair, or maybe because hans liked to walk far ahead of me to tell all the actors my name. best parts were the chainsaws to my stomach, one after another, and the guy who followed me around explicitly explaining how he would rape me. not sure if that last one was part of the show.

thursday - frankie and ray showed up. i went to their apartment. watched the landmark movie of 2004. joey showed up around 2am. he and i went to a sneak of a musical by the south park creators. it was almost as good as their first musical. i was impressed with everything about it, especially historic accuracy and the limit of political sarcasm.

friday - had an interview. my mom was in town. hung out with her at the apartment. went to la casa but didn't stay.

saturday - the disney college program girls came over. so did chris, holly, and frankie. we all went for a walk to a 'haunted' cemetery. first night of jacket weather for the season. fantastic. slept at la casa.

sunday - no clue.

monday - still no clue. probably nothing but aggravated reading and writing.

tuesday - second interview. got the job. what's it called when one calculates someone's expectations and applies psychology to match? the difference between acting and performing? whatever it's called, it's how to nail an interview. for example, i was the only person in the group interview to keep my hand down when the recruiter asked "who's here to make ten dollars an hour?" see, the best thing about the sales industry is that moral greed is rewarded. when one party wins, two other parties profit. the interviewer smirked and nodded at me. the hardest part of job hunting is finding an open position. there's no reason to leave an interview without the job. took a drug test. completely blacked out afterward.

wednesday - don't know. at nighttime i picked up joe and we had pizza. saw andrea. she's not around enough. went back to my flat. worked tirelessly all night.

thursday - slept erratically in short shifts.

friday - noted how my careening journey through happenstance is getting wildly out of control. i can't remember the last time i made a plan. fittingly went to a 3am sneak of a movie that follows two guys as they search for everything and nothing. not that they're anything like me. more on this later. i'm about to meet frankie, then hang out with karen, who is down from gainesville.
