Now I don't know if you have ever had the experience of attending a LAN party, but if you haven't I would highly recommend witnessing it at least once. The pic above is one which I just discovered while browsing through some old high school pics. This one was taken during one of our nearly weekly lan parties at an empty house that a friend of mine happened to own. It was byfar the perfect party venue. If you aren't familar with the concept of the lan party, it generally consists of a group of "gamers" who decide to move all of their computing equipment to some common location and procede to engage in an obscene amount of computer gaming, generally lasting through the night. In the pic about we are in the setup phase, this is always an interesting process because no ones machines ever worked right. At this particular lan party, I believe the games of choice were Rainbow Six , Worms, and Midtown Madness. All good choices in the event that you are ever hosting a lan party. For awhile me and a few other guys were regularly attending a lan party that occured once a month here in Waco. That was an experience. It was organized by some local guys in their late 20's/early 30's with obvious signs of a heroin addiction. This was short lived as the leader of their group moved to Seatle and the rest probably now live under the I-35 bidge. If anyone has any knowledge of other lan parties occuring in the waco area let me know, but the venue is key. Plenty of room is a must.
