BREAKING NEWS: Ellen DeGeneres picked to host Oscars: Ellen DeGeneres has been tapped to host next year’s Oscars, the Academy of Motions Pictures Arts and Sciences said Thursday. The ceremonies honoring film achievements for 2006 will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2007. It will be the comedian and TV talker’s first time hosting the Oscars show and first appearance on the award show. She has hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast twice and co-hosted it once, and hosted the Grammys twice. So, is this a good choice or not? I say yes, since she's usually spot on at hosting awards shows, as she has done so tactically in the past. But, I wonder if the Academy is too proper for the sometimes raunchy host. Whatever the case, it's a done deal, folk. So, are you liking this idea or not? Good choice or bad decision? Post it!

Box Office Preview: Talk about another boring weekend in the lkand of the Box Office. (Do the words box office doldrums come to mind?) With all movies opening to very little fanfare this weekend, I'm guessing that The Covenant has the best chance of opening in the top spot, with around $13 million. Now, if you're wondering what this movie is about and where it came from, don't ask me, since I've barely saw a preview for it anywhere. Invincible might drop another 50% or so, meaning it should gross around $7.5 million, just enough to push it into second place past Hollywoodland, which will land in third place with $7.0 million. Rounding out the top 5 is Crank (in fourth place with $6.5 million) and The Illusionist (in fifth place with around $6.0 million.) The complete roundup will appear here on Sunday in the afternoon.

TV Watch "Big Brother: All-Stars": What letdown after a pretty exciting season. I'm talking about the final two of Big Brother: All-Stars. Now, who am I to say that either one doesn't deserve the prize, but  Mike "Boogie" and Erika in the final two? Geez, this is even lamer than the year it was Alison and Jun. And pretty close to last year's final two of Maggie and Ivette. I just don't like it when it comes down to two players that haven't nearly played the game as well as some in the house have. Of course, I'm referring to my girl Janelle, who was kicked out by HoH winner Mike "Boogie." I knew that Janey had to win that last competition or it was all over but the screaming for the blonde bombshell. Despite winning more competitions than any other player, Janelle left the house in third place for the second year in a row. (Boo! Hiss!) So, as I said, we're stuck with the final two of Erika and Boogie. Who will win it all? I think Erika has the better shot between them, but what do I know? I'm the guy that said it looks like Janelle could win the entire thing like 3 days ago, so don't listen to anything I say. Boogie's comments tonight were totally obnoxious and somewhat appalling, though: "I'm just glad that America knows that Erika is in fact a ho. I've used that girl up for all I need. I've gotten myself in a position to win this game and that's all she was good for." Oh, yeah, I'm sure Erika will love that comment when she rewinds her tape at home. We got to see Will's entrance to the sequester house. Only Chicken George seemed surprised. Will took it well, "I'll give credit where credit is due, they spanked my ass, both cheeks, and it still hurts." With Will in the sequester house, I bet it won't take long for him to start gathering votes in Boogie's favor. I mean, this is the man who once thisclose to convincing Erika to have Mike's baby. I bet in like a day, he will convince Janelle, Danielle, and maybe even Marcellas to not only give Boogie the prize, but maybe have his baby, too. At the end, Julie Chen announced that there would be one final “Big Brother All-Stars” reward. In addition to the big bucks for first and second place, a jury prize of $25,000 will go to one of the sequestered houseguests, as determined by an America’s Choice vote. In other words, this prize can be called "The Rupert Award." For those that don't know Survivor, I'm talking about the fact that Rupert could never win the game and they had to make up an award just so he didn't walk away empty-handed. So, lookm for Janelle to take this prize without breaking a sweat. What do you think? Will Erika or Boogie win? Do you even care?  Will Janelle win the jury prize? Post your thoughts!

Paris Hilton Arrested for Drunk Driving: Paris Hilton was arrested in Hollywood Thursday for allegedly driving under the influence, Los Angeles police said. On Thursday morning, Hilton called in to Ryan Seacrest's radio show on L.A.'s 102.7 KIIS FM to explain the incident. "You know what, it was nothing," she said. "I'd been shooting my music video for my new song, 'Nothing in this World.' … I got off last night at about 10 p.m. then I went and had dinner with my sister and all my girlfriends, and then we went to this charity event Dave Navarro threw for brain tumors. And um, I had one margarita, starving 'cause I had not ate all day, on my way to In-n-Out which is probably three blocks away, and I'm in my (Mercedes) SLR, which is a little fast, so maybe I was speeding a little bit" - she giggled - "and I got pulled over." So, Seacrest asked, was she driving erratically, as reported? "No, I was just really hungry and I wanted to have an In-N-Out burger!" Moral of the story? Don't eat burgers and drive, folks.

Until next time, Peace out!
Anthony
