Okay, thursday afternoon a colleage and I set to work replacing old Cisco WiFi accesspoints and adding a few new ones at the office. Quick and simple job, really.
Most of the access points were just 'slide it forward, unclip ethernet cable, clip it to the new AP, slide it onto the bracket'... And because we're both over 6', and the false ceiling some places are rather low, we could reach most of them without a stepladder.
Of course, there were the new ones, and a couple was to be moved, to get better coverage, so the stepladder was taken out and carried around in the corridor...
Then I needed access to the ceiling for a new AP. 'Hey buddy, you using the stepladder'?
'No, just take it'...
'Where did you leave it'?
It was nowhere to be found.
Just gone. There were maybe 20 people on the floor that day, and all colleagues. No outsiders.
We walked the floor several times on thursday, and I took a complete sweep today, including stairwells and basement, and asking the janitors if they've seen it.
The electrician(big office building, a local company has the electrical maintenance contract, and have a guy there almost permanently) knows about it, but he prefers his own since it has a tray at the top.
That stepladder was special because it could fit in the back of a VW Caddy!
(We can't have a roof rack on ours for several reasons)
