1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
A lot: was away from parents and friends and the world for a month, was in a country that was unofficially in the middle of a war, dumped someone, was adopted, bought a leather jacket, took serious exams…

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t make them, and possibly. Probably not.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, although several had cancer.

5. What countries did you visit?
France, Austria, Israel.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A work ethic. And an ability to get up in the morning.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Friday the 13th of October.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Growing up and becoming big enough to deal with my own problems.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not dealing with them quick enough.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major: the only ones that I can remember are my ‘shrapnel wound’ (from falling off a bike, which necesetated a dressing and bandage for about a week; feeling terrible in the morning for about a month, which was not related to pregnancy; and food poisoning. Nothing exactly life (or limb) shattering…

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My leather jacket.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My friends, who are several different types of awesome. I think a defining moment was when I first met Caroline at the Galleria and she hugged me before she even knew who I was. My friends rock.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Robbie, and lots of my school-fellows; but on a less self-obsessed level, George Bush, Tony Blair, and pretty much everyone involved in the whole Israel-Lebanon fiasco. Especially the people who put that ad in the Jerusalem Post…

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food. Apart from that, proably my jacket, which is the most expensive single item of clothing I have ever bought - and it was reduced to 20%…

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Fragile Things, Helen, starting sixth form.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
When You Were Young, by The Killers.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. richer or poorer? Probably a bit richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Revising.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being late in the mornings.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Already spent; I watched Hogfather, and apart from that was very unfestive.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
I certainly fell out of love; but as to the other… I shall simply smile mysteriously, and let you judge me by my actions. You know who you are.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Hogfather. I don’t watch TV under normal circumstances.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. It’s not worth it; and I don’t even hate ‘The Subject’ any more, if I ever did.

26. What was the best book you read?
Ack, so many to choose from!

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
No idea!

28. What did you want and get?
The girl. *beams*

29. What did you want and not get?
A whole bunch of materialistic things, but apart from that, not much; more maturity, I guess.

30a. What was your favourite film of this year?
History Boys.
30b. What was your favourite theatrical production of this year?
The two one man plays I went to see at my school’s little studio-theatre.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was coming back from holiday, and I was 16. I neither had sex, nor bought cigarettes, and I didn’t buy a penknife either…

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
My emotional growth-spurt happening earlier.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Evolving.

34. What kept you sane?
My friends, and MSN.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
... pass?

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
*shrugs* Just the general thesis of politicians being children, really…

37. Who did you miss?
Helen, when I wasn’t there.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Definitely Helen.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
Hoping that things are going to resolve themselves will not solve anything: if it’s broke, go fix it. It might turn out to be better broken; but at least then the issue will have been resolved.
