I think the ironic thing is that if Bush had said at any time in the past few weeks that Rumsfeld would be resigning, chances are people would have been more likely to re-elect their Republican encumbants, thinking that maybe Bush (and the Republican party) was finally willing to accept that a change in Iraq was necessary. You can't convince me it was a suprise, especially when Bush has already got the next one picked out. Wonderfully ironic. The Republicans are their own worst enemies.
Funny that Bush is already a lame duck with two years left, rather than the usual one year.
I'm still worried about the Senate, but at least the House is safe. I think the first issue to be addressed should be the REAL cost of the war in Iraq, separated from Afghanistan, which has obviously been a ploy to keep the real numbers a secret.
----> I feel like I should clarify/revise the dog statement to say that I don't like big dogs because they scare me. They actually terrify me. Smaller and/or lazy dogs (like basset hounds!!!) are fine, as long as they are washed properly. But not weiner dogs. They are a menace to society.
