First interview down, and first non-hire...It seems that the entire administrative infrastructure is heading for several weeks of trade shows in the UK and Europe in the very near future, and consequently they need someone who can hit the ground running. In all honesty, I can't do that - there are too many things I'd have to be figuring out, with no one there to give me any guidance. It actually kind of bummed both me *and* Steven, because we hit it off on a personal and philosophical level quite well. If they weren't so under the gun, I'd bet I'm a better fit than anyone they'll end up hiring...but that's neither here nor there when you have to feel confident that you can blow town the day after hiring someone, leaving them in charge of keeping the place running while you're gone, which is the scenario that he's foreseeing right now.
Got another one lined up tomorrow, but I'm almost sure it isn't going to pay adequately. If by some miracle it does, and they don't count my recent years of non-accounting stuff against me, I'll probably have to take it...but it would be absolutely mind-numbing. At least it would be downtown...
