“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” -Rumi
Saw this quote yesterday. I had been sitting on L&D discharging a mom and baby home and bitching and moaning about all the crappy hospital paperwork, bewailing the paperwork still waiting for me in the office, listing the things I have to do but have no time for. Instead of heading back to the office right away to tackle said mountain of paperwork, I decided to hang out with the nurses and play around on my phone. What should I see on my Pinterest feed? Why, that simply profound quote above. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Truth. It stings a little. I have no control over the way of things, just over the way I am.
And now for something completely different:
Today is the last sequential date of the century - 12/13/14 (for us Americans, anyway). I think they're pretty nifty occurrences, and I'm kinda sad that it's the last one I'll see. That's a weird thought.
And now, with my own mortality firmly in mind, I must go about changing myself. Or at least quit procrastinating and get back to my mountain of paperwork...
