Strange how some things work

Well I found out today that I job I had applied for at WGN has been officially filled today. I didn't even get the opportunity to interview for it, but that's not what gets me about it. The guy who got it just happened to be the intern that I trained to replace me. I don't know whether or not to be proud of myself that I helped train the man that is now the producer for the midday show on the highest rated station in Chicago, or insulted that I trained him and he beat me out. I guess this all boils down to my timing really just sucking big time. I mean when stuff like this happens you wonder whether or not some things are worth it. I mean if I had worked my ass off and graduated in three years like I had thought about at one point in college, would it be me that managed to get the job in place of him? I mean if I didn't have to go back to DePauw for that last year I would have been able to hang around WGN possibly, much like Rick (the new producer for Steve Cochran) was able to do. With that happening maybe it would be me in that job instead of him. Not that I regret my last year but it was just something I had to ponder, just like when I left ESPN as an intern and was told by one of the PA's that had I not been returning to Indiana that they were pushing to get me hired. OH well such is life. You can't dwell on these things. So all I know is I'm going to turn up the heat on my job search and become the next big thing, cause the only thing you can rely on in life is that the Cubs will never put it together for multiple years and win a World Series in my lifetime. So to Rick- hats off to you buddy, it was my pleasure training you and a validation that I am going on to good things if I can minimally take credit for helping you on your way.
