Good lord we suck
So I recently started playing softball for the Newsweb radio stations softball team and my lord are we getting rocked. Through 4 games we have yet to score more than 3 or 4 runs a game and have been slaughter ruled in all 4 games. We have fallen to 103.5 Kiss FM, the combined team of US 99 and WCKG, the former Oldies 104.3 (now a Jack-FM station), and most recently we fell to Jam Productions. My team's performance while not stellar has been gradually improving, despite the attitude of some of our players. As for how I'm doing, well I"m 2 for 7 and after facing only 5 pitches in my first 4 at bats, I'm now up to 11 pitches in 7 at bats (granted this league starts with a 1 and 1 count on the batter and 3 of the 4 times I faced 2 pitches the first one was a strike). In the field after a rocky first game at shortstop, I've settled down while becoming our first baseman and according to one of the umpires that saw my first two games at the position, one of the best defensive players we have. So that's cool and I"m kinda starting to network and check things out at other stations.
Next week we draw WGN at 6 O'Clock at Horner park on at Irving Park, and Montrose where they cross California for all of you in the Chicagoland area that would like to laugh at me trying to play 16 inch softball. I'll try to keep you posted on the league if anyone's interested, but make sure to keep July 19 circled on your calendar because we may win that game, the final one of the season against the only team that is yet winless in this league.
