My heart aches for him. I had not really understood, I think how young he was.

What happened to him after leaving the West Indies? Did things get any better once he left the Navy?

Yes - and No! There is much more to tell, and if our loyal reader/s can stand it we will be back with several more George mini - series as it were.

Certainly there were happier ahead times for him, but there were also some very tough ones indeed.

We hope to add to the George story before too long.

Thank you for reading so thoughtfully

Yes it's so easy to forget how terribly young these men were isn't it? I think George felt very alone on the West Indies Station and I also suspect the death of the mutineers wieghed heavily on his conscience.

As nodbear said, George did indeed continue with his naval career and though he retired with honour, he had many more turbulent times ahead.

The next installment of George's story will tell the tale of the Cadogans' entanglements with the powerful Wellesley and Paget families which led to George fighting a duel to preserve the family honour.

You're very welcome. It's a grueling tale isn't it? And we're still uncovering more details.

More to follow shortly, this time featuring the Wellesley family and a duel with the dashing Henry Paget.
