I've been very lucky to have the lovely
esteven staying with me this week :) Needless to say there has been rather a lot of squeeing going on, not least over the magnificent
ship plans that she found in Abernethy and was so kind to show me pictures of. Sadly the glorious weather we've been having for the last fortnight has disappeared but that hasn't stopped us going out and enjoying ourselves. Yesterday we took a trip down the road to visit Pollok House where we said good morning to Basil Hall and then squeed over Lady Maxwell's Scrapbooks. It took all our self restraint not to break open the display cabinet and start flicking through the pages. We didn't linger too long in the gardens as it was pouring rain, but we did pay a visit to the stable block, (which doubled for Greenwich Hospital in Garrow's Law), and were lucky enough to see one of the magnificent Clydesdales having a wash. He stood there very patiently getting shampooed in the rain and still managed to look impossibly dignified. Afterwards we crossed over the river to see our local tall ship Glenlee. There may have been more squeeing involved...
esteven was particularly impressed with the pantry which she thought would have made Killick green with envy. And I discovered a sea chart of Falmouth in the wheel house, which I'd never noticed before. I'm sure if you peer closely enough you can see Ned's house :)
