Believe me, I feel your pain. What makes it even worse is that I will be in London the day after the Pleasure Garden Ball, for work dammit!

I WANT TO GO TO THAT SO BADLY YOU HAVE NO IDEA. With a domino cloak and a loo-mask. Don't suppose you can show up a day early?

Alas, with a small person to look after at home, overnight trips require considerable forward planning and a lot of good will from partner!

When I lived near London nothing interesting happened. Now I'm in Bath I'm on the wrong side of the country!

I cannot, of course, go. I am going go to the Met, maybe. They are having a Duncan Phyfe exhibit. I shall pretend I am at Archie's house.

Actually, I looked it up, Duncan Phyfe was born in Scotland, yes, but his furniture was made and sold here. It furnished the best houses here, but he was a kid when he left Scotland. It is just so beautiful!

I googled Duncan Phyfe in the office yesterday when you posted your first comment. I'd never heard of him before but was rather chuffed to discover he was born in Scotland.

I've just spent half an hour gazing adoringly at pictures of his sofas. They're so beautiful and elegant! I love this chair too. I hope you get to go to the exhibition, so you can come back and tell us all about it :)

I will try to do just that. He is of the era, anyway. He had a lot of imitators, but every so often a new piece of his is discovered.
