Elderly Pets: Dimmer Dog is very poorly these days. He is a couple of years younger than Smart Dog, but she's remaining alert and active (if arthritic) and he's declining. He's blind now, for one thing, and probably deaf as well. But most seriously, his kidneys are failing. Mr Pedia has learned how to administer fluids to him with a needle. Last ( Read more... )

I am bracing myself for incoming misery for my husband, who's devoted to him. Even though he is a very very stupid dog.

We outlive our pets, mostly, and it is sad.

I am sorry to hear about Dimmer Dog.

Those chibis on the other hand are delightful.

Aren't those chibis lovely? She does some other nifty art of Tony Head roles as well.

Have you tried giving Dimmer Dog his pills in a peanut butter sandwich?

When my dog, Lady, got really bad right before she died, she got all her pills in a sandwich. She loved it and I like to think it made her last bit on earth better.

All we did was take a piece of bread (usually the heal :p) spread PB on it and sprinkle with pills. She usually chocked it down so fact that she had no time to spit the pills out!

Peanut butter does work, yes! It's one of the few things that does. This week Mr P has resorted to mashing the pills up into baby food. He has *so many* pills now.

But it's working. He was just tootling around the house with his tail wagging, which is a good sign.
