Spent the weekend rewriting my fic archive generator tool.
On Thursday, it was Python, SQLAlchemy + Elixir, mako, and prototype.
Today, it's Ruby, Datamapper, haml, and jquery.
Why? Well, it was a learning exercise.
I note with some amusement that the performance of the Ruby version is about 2.5x worse than the performance of the Python version. Nobody ever chose Ruby for performance reasons. At least, not anybody sane. Though I really should see what Ruby 1.9 does for me. Hrm.
Next step: web front end.
What does this mean for you? It means I have an exciting new way to procrastinate from writing fiction, that's what!
