I agree 100 per cent. In fact I was thinking "what were they thinking?" the whole eposide. I even wrote my own review (although yours is a lot better) in my LJ

I'm not worried about what the writers are thinking yet, because it's early days. I *am* very pleased they didn't wrap it up quickly. They made it clear that it'll be a big issue for House, and that makes me happy. Crank up the angst!
House Season 4 isn't even out on DVD over here yet, I am deeply jealous. Could you tell me if the divine-looking Chase is still in the show and if he does much? Been warned that he is barely in Season 4. I love me some cute doctor eye-candy.
Chase is still in every episode, looking dishy, shaggy, and blond. He's sort of turned into the designated surgeon: if the patient of the week needs to be sliced open, he's almost guaranteed to be the person doing it.
I don't think the writers want to get rid of the old ducklings just yet because there was such fan outrage at the end of season three when they were all fired/left. Personally I could do without Cameron. Foreman is still there as a...balance(?) to House and remember Cuddy wanted him there. Chase, well he's my eye and ear candy, so I'll just leave it at that.
I really do hope that the writers don't go back. As much as I choked up over the last scene, especially what Wilson said to House, it could lead to some very awesome character growth and I can't wait to see that.
I'm sure it's contracts and not story needs that keep them around. I don't think the show is expanding to fit a larger cast very well. Dunno. I'd be a fan of cycling new sets of ducklings in and out every few years, just like real interns.
The last scene was awesome. If the writers follow up, things are going to be very interesting.
Like you, I wish Cuddy would have been more than just House/Wilson counselor in the episode. Does any writer remember that she's the boss of this hospital?
[and could someone make Cameron disappear? just for the sake of the show]

Chase is very pretty, though. I cannot deny this.
